About Our Early Learning Centre and Preschool in Singleton
Skallywags Preschool and Early Learning Centre is a special place where children, staff and families all come together. It is located in the heart of Singleton Heights in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales with places available for 48 children from 2 to 6 years of age. Skallywags Preschool is a place that children love to come to, allowing them to learn and grow in a safe, comfortable and happy environment. The children at Skallywags Preschool will develop friendships with their peers, teachers and other families in the local area.
Skallywags Preschool is open from 8:00am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday with two rooms designated for each age group, 2 and 3 year olds & 4 and 5 year olds. To make quality childcare more accessible, we also offer competitive fees and access to subsidies, giving families added support.

Learning Through Play, Friendship and Everyday Experiences
Each day at Skallywags Preschool and Early Learning Centre includes learning and play experiences that help children explore the world around them. Children build friendships, practise communication, develop independence and take part in activities based on their interests. Our centre also offers varied and fun experiences throughout the year. Children help prepare, plant, water, weed and harvest our fruit and vegetable garden. We also welcome in-house visitors such as the local reptile man and sporting groups, and we occasionally visit local services connected to the children’s interests. These experiences help children learn through real moments, hands-on discovery and shared play.
Room 1: Ages 2 to 3
Younger children are supported as they build confidence, develop social skills and become familiar with daily routines. Our educators focus on creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can develop communication skills, build friendships and explore their growing independence.
Room 2: Ages 4 to 6
As children prepare for their transition to school, they take part in experiences that encourage independence, problem-solving, teamwork and self-confidence. We’ll support children’s developing literacy, numeracy and social skills through engaging activities that help them feel ready for their next learning environment. Our educators take the time to get to know each child’s interests, strengths and individual needs. This allows us to provide learning experiences that support development at every stage while helping children feel secure, valued and confident throughout their early to preschool years.
